How should I dress for my headshot?
One of the most important aspects when working with clients, is helping them figure out what to wear for their headshot session. I try not to complicate the issue. The goal is to keep the look simple, classic, and professional.
Choose subtle solid colors for shirts/blouses and suit jackets. Avoid large patterns, overly bright colors or any items that draw attention away from your face. Make sure whatever you wear is wrinkle free.
Solid colors are the best choice for a top. Choose a color that enhances your eyes and/or skin tone. If you feel confident in bold colors, give it a try! Any piece of clothing that inspires confidence will bring that confidence to your face and elevate the level of personality coming through in your photo.
Here are a few tips:
A Suit/Jacket or Sweater is recommended for a more layered and dynamic image.
Suit/Jacket Colors – Solid dark blue, black, or dark charcoal gray. Avoid light pastel colors.
Solid colors for shirts and blouses.
Avoid bright large patterns that can become distracting. Smaller pattern details are usually fine.
If you feel confident in bold colors give it a try.

Ties – Solid colors are timeless and a great option. A tie with bold stripes will look great with most combinations.
Avoid seasonal ties, large patterns/logos and ties that are too bright and overpowering for the image.
